Calgary Spartan Wrestling – 2024/25 Jr/Sr Season

Hi everyone, I hope you’re having a great summer so far and exams went well. Sorry I am getting to this a month later than I had hoped, but life has been busy, as is always the case once the season ends and we have to catch up on everything else. I believe we have everything sorted to start an adult program for you. If you have any friends that you competed with in highschool, who are looking to continue competing after high school near the Mount Royal area they are welcome to join too. They must have previous experience though as we are looking to create a competitive adult program. 

We need to collect fees by August 23 to secure the facility for the entire year. This facility will require us to roll up and unroll the mats each day so I will need to book it for 2 hours each night. Wednesdays are booked off for Refereeing, studying, or active rest. On Fridays in which you do not have tournaments and would like to get a practice in, the Jr/Sr team can join the Greco-Roman Practices at OLR free of charge, with the expectation that you help mentor some younger athletes while you’re there and set a good example as to the standard of work ethic we expect in our team culture. 

If payment is an issue, we can figure out payment arrangements, just email me personally and we can work it out. We don’t mind expanding the program to provide opportunities for you guys, however we do need to make sure we continue to afford the facility with the National Championships being held at the end of May (In Edmonton this 2025 season, Montreal in 2026).

Practices will begin outdoors September 8, 2024 with hopes of getting on the mats for October 2.

7:00pm – 8:30pm

Pricing

$900 for Season

30% Reffing Discount (Must commit to attending the free referee training clinic and refereeing 10 events in the Calgary area for any age group over the course of the season)

Most of these events are paid events so our goal is to give our athletes a discount by committing to take on a part time job essentially. If you’re not super comfortable with the rules, you can certainly request to referee younger age groups and make up your 10 event commitment that way. ($300 discounted off)
