About Us

Our Story

In 2012, there was a major disconnect in Calgary wrestling clubs between youth wrestling (grassroots) programs and the Elite programs which were sending our athletes to the Olympics. Although these adult focused programs were high achieving on a national and Alberta wrestling level, it left a major void in Calgary wrestling. On top of this, there were no programs located south the Trans Canada highway within the city. Co-Founders Keston Roberts and Cody Fairburn with the help of Coach James Cadotte set out on a mission to provide South Calgary with a club to meet its needs.

Our first facility was on 42nd ave SE and we partnered with MOST Physical Preparation, a relationship that extended over 8 years (which we will be forever be grateful!). We later moved with MOST to 110 61st SW (Which we highly recommend). In 2019 we moved again to meet the needs of our growing program and currently operate out of Our Lady of the Rockies High School (next to the Heritage C-Train station) and William Aberhart School (near University and Banff Trail C-Train stations).

James, Keston and Cody created Calgary’s first All-Ages program. One body that represents a complete Calgary wrestling club, ages 4-adult, a sanctioned member of the Alberta Amateur Wrestling Association (AAWA).

Since our start in June of 2012, the Spartan community, has been instrumental at growing wrestling in Calgary at the school levels as well as the club level. We are proud to be surrounded by champions on and off the mat. We pride ourselves in helping our members find what they are passionate in life and help them to the best of our abilities to reach those goals.
